Elena Rybakina s’est qualifiée pour la finale du WTA 1000 de Toronto. Dans la nuit du mercredi 13 au jeudi 14 août, la Kazakhe aura l’occasion de réduire à quatre points son retard sur la numéro 1 mondiale, Aryna Sabalenka, au classement WTA.
Rybakina se rapproche de la première place mondiale
Dans la zone mixte, après sa victoire difficile obtenue au terme d’un retour gagnant face à l’ancienne numéro 1 mondiale Naomi Osaka, Elena Rybakina a livré son analyse : « She served really well in the first set, which was quite balanced. Then I had the feeling that I had rushed my serving turns a bit towards the end. I knew I had to start the second set well right away. I´m glad I answered well a couple of times and then things changed. She also started to feel some pressure, committing a few double faults. I kept fighting and I´m happy to have won. »
« I think the adrenaline and the many hours spent on the court helped a bit. Even in the third set, at times, I felt like I was shooting randomly. I had my opportunities and I took advantage of them. I tried not to think about the score, focusing on one point at a time. Even on serve, I carefully chose the targets ».
La Kazakhe a également reconnu être particulièrement éprouvée après cette demi-finale de plus de deux heures : « I don´t know what will happen in the final, but I will definitely give my best and we´ll see. The most important thing is to get some sleep. Swiatek is playing well and it will be a very difficult match again. We know each other very well, we have played many times. In my case, I feel that it is above all a matter of recovering after so many hours spent on the court. »
