Greg Rusedski n’a pas apprécié le choix des organisateurs du Masters 1000 de Cincinnati, qui ont programmé le premier match de Novak Djokovic aux heures les plus chaudes de la journée.
L’ancien numéro 4 mondial estime que le champion serbe méritait un traitement différent au regard de tout ce qu’il a accompli au cours de sa carrière.
Le Serbe avait révélé souffrir d’un problème de santé dont les symptômes s’aggravent lorsque les températures et le taux d’humidité sont élevés. C’est exactement ce qui s’est produit lors de son match, finalement perdu en trois sets face à Thiago Agustin Tirante. Âgé de 39 ans, Djokovic a été victime d’un malaise et a même vomi lors d’un changement de côté. L’intervention du staff médical du tournoi a été nécessaire : sa tension artérielle a été contrôlée afin de comprendre ce qui lui arrivait sur le court central.
