Le forfait de Jannik Sinner à l’US Open, en raison d’un problème au genou, s’ajoute à la longue liste des jeunes figures du circuit contraintes de mettre leur saison entre parenthèses, pour des durées plus ou moins longues, à cause de blessures.
Jack Draper est notamment concerné, lui dont la carrière a été régulièrement freinée par des pépins physiques. Arthur Fils, qui retrouve progressivement son meilleur niveau, est également passé par là, tout comme Holger Rune, absent depuis novembre 2025 après une rupture du tendon d’Achille. Carlos Alcaraz, qui a manqué les deux derniers tournois du Grand Chelem, sera quant à lui de retour à New York.
Un constat s’impose : le rythme imposé par le circuit semble être l’une des principales causes de cette situation, de plus en plus préoccupante. Paolo Bertolucci l’a souligné en commentant le forfait de Sinner à l’US Open dans La Gazzetta dello Sport. L’ancien joueur italien a insisté sur l’importance d’une programmation adaptée pour les tennismen, quel que soit leur âge.
Une situation préoccupante
L’ancien tennisman italien a évoqué les blessures des principales absences à l’US Open : "Young players, on the launching pad: and yet... This should make us reflect on what tennis has become on a physical level: the protagonists are forced to train more and more stressfully. The body becomes like an elastic band that is pulled day after day more and more, to the maximum, and when this elastic gives way, injuries become serious and long. Carlos Alcaraz himself is now ready to return to the US Open, but he hasn't played a match since mid-April."
Concernant le numéro un mondial, Bertolucci a ajouté : "Undoubtedly, the pull made by Sinner this year, which led to winning 5 consecutive Masters 1000, from Indian Wells to Rome via Miami, Monte Carlo and Madrid, must have left some aftermath".
Le consultant de Sky a ensuite rappelé l’importance d’une récupération complète afin d’éviter toute rechute : "You can't present yourself, at these levels, if you haven't solved the previous problem. A possible relapse, in fact, would be dramatic and could even lead to the early closure of the 2026 season. Therefore, we must move with lead feet, do the right things, not get caught up in the anxiety of returning at all costs - explained Bertolucci, who added -. Sinner has just turned 25. He still has several seasons ahead of him, realistically, at the highest level and he will not miss the opportunity to play the US Open and other major tournaments many times. But the body must be fine-tuned, reappearing only when everything is back in its place".
