Arthur Fils était très attendu à l’US Open.
« Grand Slam tournaments - Roddick argued - are different from normal tournaments, especially in men´s tennis, with the best-of-five set format. I am a big fan of Arthur Fils: I think he will stay in the Top 10 for a long time, provided he doesn´t have too many physical problems. He obviously lacks experience in Grand Slam tournaments, but he has to face these competitions, where you have to win more than 21 sets in 14 days. You also have the right to win badly. I have the impression that people necessarily expect a good game, but to win a Grand Slam it matters relatively little how you do it » :
« I think he has the qualities to win one, but he just has to find a way to win best-of-five sets and stay healthy enough. He´s already missed quite a few of them. I´m absolutely not going to judge or criticize him based solely on this US Open. Arthur Fils clearly has the qualities to win a Grand Slam tournament, but he´s going to have to get used to best-of-five sets and tournaments that last two weeks. »
