Coco Gauff a remarqué qu’un fan lui reprochait de sortir son téléphone quelques instants après avoir remporté le tournoi de Cincinnati. La joueuse américaine lui a répondu sans détour.
Dimanche, la 22e joueuse américaine a conclu une semaine exceptionnelle à Cincinnati en dominant sa compatriote Jessica Pegula, 3e mondiale, 6-2, 6-4 en finale.
Pour Gauff, il s’agit de son premier titre de la saison et de son premier trophée depuis octobre 2025.
Quelques instants après avoir décroché son deuxième titre à Cincinnati et mis fin à sa période de disette, l’Américaine a semblé sortir son téléphone.

Sur X, un utilisateur a reproché à Coco Gauff d’avoir utilisé son téléphone quelques instants après avoir signé un parcours triomphal devant son public.
"Kinda hate how after the match the players immediately just bring their phones out... Like omg live a little," a critic wrote in a since-deleted post.
Gauff a vu le message avant sa suppression et lui a répondu sans détour : "God forbid a girl facetimes her family to share the moment with them."

Gauff répond à ses détracteurs après son titre à Cincinnati
Interrogée sur sa manière de gérer les critiques, la double championne en Grand Chelem a laissé entendre qu’elle avait désormais accepté les commentaires négatifs — mais aussi certains messages particulièrement « stupides » — qui l’accompagnent inévitablement.
"Honestly, I just take it and eat it. No, I mean you have a bad couple weeks on Tour, people say it's over and all this stupid stuff. Our season is from January to November," a déclaré la nouvelle championne à 12 reprises sur le circuit WTA.
Gauff va désormais se tourner vers l’US Open, où elle tentera de décrocher un troisième titre du Grand Chelem et de conclure son été de la meilleure des manières.
